Sherwood Airgunners had our final Field Target match for the 2025 season Sunday October 12, 2025. We shot the Highlands course once again and the Troyer scale was set at a 33.5 with 13 targets beyond 40 yds. We had a decent turnout with 18 shooters. We had one new shooter Jeff Farr join us for the first time at Sherwood and this was only his second FT match. Of course he was welcomed with open arms and we certainly hope that Jeff liked what we have to offer for airgunners.
The weather was a very pleasant fall day with temps starting around 50* and ending in the mid 60*s. We had a predominant NE wind that blew 5-10mph and was fairly consistent with lulls to make wind calls very tricky at times. There was more than once where for my first shot I held outside the KZ and the target falls but my second shot I have the same hold and my pellet hit exactly where I was holding on the face plate . Plenty of leaves were falling and were on the ground which made for a very nice fall setting! Once again we had 0 cold lines, protests or target failures!
We did have a few DNF(did not finish) Al Duster had a rifle problem which sent him home after a few lanes and Dave Campbell and Tom West decided eating hamburgers was a better idea than shooting FT . I'm gonna have to tell Jerry not to cook until the match is finished, lol.
In Hunter PCP Doug Cunningham shot a 49/60 for 3rd place. Doug shot a rifle for the first time a RAW TM1000 set up shooting 10.3grn pellets for a flatter trajectory. Eric Jones who has been shooting his Crossman Challenger very well shot a 50/60 for 2nd place. Steve Hockenberry shot his Thomas for a excellent score of 55/60,,,,Steve has been on the podium on a regular basis this year. Way to go Steve.

In WFTF PCP Lucas Marusiak shot a 53/60 for 1st place. Nice shooting in that tricky wind young buck!
Match high score was shot by Tim Baylor in Unlimited shooting 58/60.

I'd like to thank everyone that has come out to a match and our Grand Prix this year. Giving back to the airgun community with field target and indoor bench rest is what we enjoy doing. We are blessed to have a great property and facility to host these matches which will include the AAFTA National Field Target Championship in 2027. Thankyou to AAFTA for giving us the opportunity to host this prestigious match…we are looking forward to the work involved in hosting this event!
Sherwood Airgunners will be hosting 4 Indoor Bench Rest matches starting the 2nd Sunday of December. December, January,February and March all the 2nd Sunday of the month. Matt Muse has stepped up and will be running those matches with help from the club members at Sherwood.
Sincerely
Match Director
